The Hybrid guide

What is THCa flower?

THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the raw, acidic form of THC that cannabis plants produce naturally. In its unheated state THCa is non-psychoactive. When flower is heated — smoked, vaporized, or baked — THCa converts to Δ9 THC through a process called decarboxylation.

THCa flower is hemp flower bred to be rich in THCa while staying under the federal limit of 0.3% Δ9 THC on a dry-weight basis. Because that limit is measured on Δ9 THC, high-THCa flower tests as legal hemp at harvest even though it delivers a full-strength cannabis experience once heated. Every JGO strain lists its THCa percentage and links to its lab report.

Our current THCa strains test between roughly 30% and 32% THCa. That is dispensary-grade potency — start with a small amount, especially if you are new to flower.

THCa flower vs. CBD flower

Both are hemp flower under federal law, and both come from the same plant family, but they are grown for opposite goals. THCa flower is bred for high THCa and converts to THC when heated. CBD flower is bred for high CBD with only trace THCa, so it does not produce a high — customers reach for it for the ritual and the terpene flavor without the intoxicating effect.

If you want the classic cannabis experience, choose THCa. If you want something you can enjoy any time of day with a clear head, choose CBD flower. Both are sold in the same sizes, both are third-party lab tested, and both ship with the same 21+ requirement.

Will THCa flower show up on a drug test?

Yes. Heated THCa becomes THC, and standard drug tests screen for THC metabolites. If you are subject to workplace, military, or first-responder testing, THCa flower is not for you. JGO's hemp-seed-oil gummies remain the THC-free option for customers who need to pass a test.

CBD flower contains only trace THCa, but trace amounts can still accumulate with heavy use. If a drug test matters to you, treat every smokable hemp product as a risk.

Indica, sativa, or hybrid — how to choose

Indica-leaning strains like Gelato 41 are the evening pick: customers describe a body-forward, settle-into-the-couch feel. Sativa-leaning strains like Permanent Marker and Biscotti lean brighter and more heady, better suited to daytime or social settings. Hybrids like Cereal Milk and Watermelon Nerdz sit in the middle with a lift up front that eases into relaxation.

Strain labels are a starting point, not a promise. Terpenes (the aromatic compounds listed on each product page) shape the experience as much as the indica/sativa lineage. Caryophyllene and myrcene tend to read as relaxing; limonene and linalool as uplifting and calming respectively. Pick the flavor profile that appeals to you and adjust from there.

Top Shelf vs. Exotic: what the tiers mean

Every strain in the drop is indoor-grown, hand-trimmed, and lab tested. The difference between tiers is bag appeal and terpene density. Top Shelf strains — currently Watermelon Nerdz and Cereal Milk — are the frostiest, loudest, most flavorful buds in the batch and are priced at $45 an eighth. Exotic strains — Gelato 41, Permanent Marker, and Biscotti — are premium indoor flower at $25 an eighth.

Potency is comparable across tiers (all test around 30% THCa). If you are choosing on value, Exotic is the sweet spot; if you want the nicest bud in the jar, go Top Shelf.

How JGO flower is tested

Each strain is tested by an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited third-party laboratory for its full cannabinoid profile, including THCa, Δ9 THC, Δ8 THC, CBD, CBG, CBC, CBN, and THCV. The certificate of analysis is posted as an image on every product page and collected on our lab results page. No PDFs, no emailing us to ask — the report is one tap away.

The two numbers that matter: THCa percentage (potency) and Δ9 THC percentage (must be under 0.3% to ship as hemp). Every JGO THCa strain currently on the shelf tests between 0.21% and 0.26% Δ9 THC; every CBD strain tests below the lab's detection limit for Δ9 THC.

Sizes and pricing

Flower is sold in three sizes: an eighth (3.5g), a quarter (7g), and an ounce (28g). Price per gram drops as the size goes up — an ounce of Exotic flower works out to $5.00 per gram versus $7.14 per gram for an eighth. Each product page shows the per-gram price for the size you have selected.

There are no subscriptions on flower, and our quantity-based bulk discounts do not stack on top of the size ladder. The ounce is the best value; if you want more than an ounce, contact us about wholesale.

How to store flower

Keep flower in an airtight, UV-protected container in a cool, dark place. Light, heat, and oxygen degrade THCa and terpenes. A 59–63% humidity pack in the jar keeps buds from drying out and preserves flavor. Avoid the refrigerator and freezer — condensation is worse than warmth.

Stored properly, flower stays fresh for months. Buy the size you will use in that window rather than stockpiling more than you can enjoy.

Shipping and who can order

You must be 21 or older to purchase. Orders ship discreetly in unmarked packaging from the United States. Per state guidelines, THCa flower cannot ship to Arkansas, Idaho, Minnesota, Oregon, or Rhode Island; checkout will not offer shipping for THCa flower to those addresses. Other states may restrict smokable hemp — check your local rules.

Free shipping applies to orders over $100, the same as the rest of the JGO store. Flower ships separately from gummies when both are in the same order.
